Is India’s Triplex Board Market Creating a Buying Opportunity?

The Indian market for Triplex Paper Board has remained largely stable in recent weeks after witnessing a modest correction in early June. Demand from premium packaging applications, including FMCG, pharmaceuticals, personal care, and consumer electronics, has remained steady, while adequate domestic supply and competitive imports have kept market sentiment cautious.

Although end-user demand continues to support consumption, buyers have largely adopted a requirement-based procurement strategy amid comfortable inventories and stable material availability. At the same time, easing feedstock costs and competitive pricing by suppliers have limited any significant upward movement in the market.

What Supported Triplex Paper Board Prices?

Before the recent decline, India’s Triplex Board market was supported by elevated production costs and healthy demand from premium packaging sectors. As Triplex Board is manufactured using a combination of recycled fibre and a proportion of virgin pulp, higher prices of imported OCC, virgin pulp, chemicals, and energy increased manufacturing costs for domestic mills.

The West Asia crisis also disrupted global shipping routes, raising freight costs and creating uncertainty in raw material procurement. These factors, coupled with steady demand from high-value packaging applications, enabled manufacturers to maintain pricing discipline despite increasing competition from imported paperboard.

As a result, Triplex Board prices remained stable through May before market conditions gradually shifted.

Triplex paper Board Prices Ease on Cost Stabilization

What is happening in India’s Triplex Board market right now? Prices recorded a modest correction of 2.05% during the week ending 5 June 2026 before stabilizing in the following weeks.

The decline was primarily driven by stabilizing raw material costs, particularly imported waste paper and virgin pulp, which eased production cost pressures for manufacturers. At the same time, comfortable inventory levels and sufficient domestic availability encouraged suppliers to offer more competitive pricing.

Meanwhile, continued imports from China and Indonesia intensified competition in the premium paperboard segment, limiting the pricing power of domestic mills. With buyers remaining cautious and purchasing only for immediate requirements, suppliers introduced targeted discounts to sustain order volumes, resulting in the observed price correction.

Triplex Paper Board Market Outlook

Looking ahead, the Indian Triplex Board market is expected to remain stable-to-slightly bullish during the coming months. Rising imported OCC prices, firm virgin pulp costs, elevated freight expenses, and improving demand from FMCG, pharmaceutical, and premium packaging sectors are expected to gradually strengthen market fundamentals.

However, aggressive imports from Asian suppliers and ample domestic production capacity may restrict the pace of price recovery. Consequently, any increase in Triplex Board prices is expected to be gradual, with manufacturers focusing on protecting margins rather than implementing sharp price hikes.
